TERM TIME ONLY POST St Richards CE Preschool is a fun and nurturing setting where children, (Aged 2- 4 years) learn through play and a stimulating and varied programme of activities that delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage, (EYFS) Curriculum.

St Richards CE Preschool is registered and inspected by Ofsted and was rated, 'Outstanding,' at our last inspection in Spring 2024.

We are a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) overseen by Trustees who work with the manager and staff team.

We are seeking a Preschool Manager to lead our experienced and committed team.

Job Description:

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the setting and to ensure that high standards of care and education are developed and maintained throughout in line with Hounslow Borough Council, Ofsted, and other statutory and legal requirements.
  • To function as Designated Safeguarding Lead and to deal with and keep abreast of current safeguarding procedures.
  • To attend requisite training and to update policies and procedures where required. Ensure staff are updated and complete requisite training.
  • Understanding of the Prevent Duty in the Counterterrorism and Security Act 2015 as it relates to early years settings.
  • To be the lead person in the setting, keeping, and maintaining accurate records and observations; monitoring achievement and progress of each child. Adhere to confidentiality regarding personal information relating to children, their families, and staff.
  • To maintain all records required by Ofsted and Hounslow Borough Council.
  • To ensure the preschool environment, (indoors and outdoors) provides a safe, caring and stimulating educational context.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Manager and Preschool Committee to oversee budgets and ensure as a minimum a break-even position.
  • To manage, supervise, develop, and support the preschool staff. Ensuring the staff rotas meet ratios, and that all staff are recruited safely in line with Safer Recruitment good practice.
  • To collaborate with the staff to ensure that the preschool plans an appropriate EYFS curriculum that enables all children to make individual progress and are prepared for their next steps considering the SEN Code of Practice, child protection procedures and equal opportunities considerations.
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, children, Preschool Committee, St. Richard's Church, and other professionals.
  • To regularly monitor and assess the quality of the provision to ensure best practice and standards are maintained. Report regularly to the Preschool Committee.
  • To fulfil all legal and statutory requirements.
  • To implement and regularly review the preschool policies and procedures, in partnership with staff and trustees.
  • To ensure all staff understand and work to these.
  • To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families, as well as transitions between settings.
  • To attend meetings with other providers, schools, or council briefings, and report back.
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and an understanding of equality and diversity issues.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the preschool aims and objectives.

lt is a requirement of all staff that they share this commitment and follow the prescribed policy and procedures to continuously promote a culture of safeguarding across the whole organisation.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them. As St Richard's is a Church of England Preschool, there is a requirement for the successful applicant to be supportive of the Christian ethos of the setting.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum five years proven experience of working in an early year's care and education setting including at least two years of leadership experience.
  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years education qualification or equivalent with the requisite Maths and English qualifications.
  • A desire to work towards a Level 4 qualification is encouraged.
