Cinema
16th May 2023 - 16th May 2023
UNTIL Tuesday 16th May
Beanpole, a period drama set in Leningrad in the immediate aftermath of World War II, explores the trauma inflicted on the populace, including on Iya and Masha, two young women who are seeking to rebuild their lives. The result is a deeply empathetic character study and a powerful and moving film, with quite exceptional cinematography.
The film will be introduced by Dr Jon Hackett, Associate Professor of Film and Communications at St Mary's University. Jon has provided excellent introductions for RFS for several films in recent years.
