EVENT OF THE WEEK: St Margarets Fair makes its triumphant return

St Margarets Fair, which has been a centrepiece of summer for over 40 years, is back this Saturday.
The event at Moormead Park promises live music, barbecue favourites, Pimm's and Prosecco, together with an exciting mix of stalls from schools and community groups.
A spokesman for the organisers stressed: "The Fair is about fun and getting the whole community together, but it also raises important funds for our local schools and charities.
"The success of the fair is made possible by a large number of volunteers. With minimal running costs and no paid staff, we can make sure nearly every penny earned is donated."
All the profits from the bar, barbecue, Pimms and Prosecco stall, Tea & Cake tent, Swing Boats and Silent Auction goes straight back into the community as important donations to five local schools and several annually selected local charities.
The schools - St Stephen's Primary, St Mary's Primary, Orleans Primary, Deer Park and Orleans Park Schools - are all involved in planning the event.
The St Margarets Fair music stage will be showcasing some of the best young local talent. This includes on-the-rise soloists, local bands and the winners of music competition 'Battle of the Bands'. The competition for young people, which is supported by Marshall amps and Hanwell Hootie, is held at the Exchange in Twickenham and St Mellitus Church in Hanwell.
Among the line-up, which is subject to change, are the St Margarets Elastic Band, who play regularly at local fairs, street markets and charity events; The Richmond Music Trust Soul Band; The Hornets, who are a 4-piece rock band from West London; Gunliner, who are one of this year's Battle of the Bands finalists; The Launchers; and Bee Bran, who is a 15 year old singer-songwriter from London, who has gained recognition in the UK, USA and Poland.
The main sponsors, Chase Buchanan, who are long-time supporters of the fair, will be running the popular Swing Boats, where the proceeds
go back to the Fair, schools and charities. At the same time Real Drinks and the Turks Head are setting up and running the bar, which is crucial to money-raising efforts.
All the proceeds from a London Scottish Passing Cage stall will go to the schools and charities supported by the Fair.
A Silent Auction has been organised by volunteers from Deer Park Primary School, which has opened on a new site near Richmond Bridge, and includes a huge selection of wonderful prizes from tennis lessons and massage treatments to wine and dinners out.
