New waste and recycling collection dates in Twickenham this Easter

For a week after the Easter Bank Holiday, general rubbish, food waste, garden waste and recycling collections for homes in Richmond will take place a day later than usual.

Freddie, a habour seal popular with Richmond locals, suffered serious injuries after being attacked near Hammersmith Bridge on Sunday and had to be put down.

In the wake of the fatal dog attack on a seal that had become a local celebrity with residents and walkers by the Thames, concern has been raised about the increase in attack by dogs on wild animals by the river.

A spokesperson for the Port of London, which controls the river, says the authority (PLA) confirmed the problem was a rising concern.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of explosive substance and terrorism offences in South West London.

He was detained yesterday (Monday, March 22) by officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command at an address on suspicion of possession of an explosive substance.
